Homemade Dog Treats: Crunchy Carrot Treats
BackHere at The Good Kennel Guide we love treating our furry friends to homemade dog treats. Not only are these recipes fun, quick and easy to make but they are free from preservatives and you know exactly what is in them. Another benefit of making your own tasty dog treats is being able to control the portion size, if you like to give your pooch a few treats over the day then make them smaller, they can also be adapted to suit your dog’s taste and allergies.
Crunchy Carrot Treats
Ingredients

1 banana

900g grated carrots (skin on)

60ml unsweetened apple juice

30ml water

180g whole wheat flour

85g rolled oats
Method

Preheat the oven to 175oc

Mix the banana, and grated carrots together in a bowl.

Gradually add the apple juice and water.

Once mixed, stir in the oats and flour.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface kneading until completely combined. Roll out to approx. 1cm in thickness and cut into shapes using biscuit cutters (bone shaped ones are ideal). Place onto a greased baking tray.

bake for 25 minutes or until cooked and cool on a wire rack.

Once cold store in an airtight container.
Top Tip- To make them extra tasty you could try adding a teaspoon of Dog friendly peanut butter. (If using human peanut butter make sure that it does not contain Xylitol, an added sweetener which can be toxic to dogs). If in doubt make sure you purchase a dog safe peanut butter like the one below.
